I’m a creative consultant, currently supporting the marketing activities at XPRIZE, the global leader in incentivized prize competitions.
With 20 years of creative marketing and publicity experience, I’ve gained a wealth of work and life experiences, and have worn many hats – with each leading to a common core purpose – my passion for creativity and service. That’s what I love, and love to do.
The highlight for me at XPRIZE has been co-creating and overseeing youth programs focused on introducing and developing S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) skills to kids through creative, incentivized competitions. I have also built mentorship programs, connecting kids with leaders in their areas of interest. You can see what I'm currently working on at: xprizechallenge.org
I’m thrilled to be part of LetsGiveThemAShot.org, and look forward to helping kids discover the creative power they hold, to own who they are, and to receive the respect that rightfully comes with that.

Vice President of the Board of Directors
Hello, my name is Jerson Ramirez and I am the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Let’s Give Them a Shot. I was born in Managua, Nicaragua and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I’m the first male of my family to graduate High School and attend College. I’m attending Cerritos College in the process of obtaining my AA in Kinesiology and plan to transfer to a four year college. Derek Locklear and Let’s Give Them a Shot gave me a shot during my junior year in high school by inviting me to become a part of this unique program that honestly turned my life around. Through Let’s Give Them a Shot I found educational guidance that I otherwise would not have received at my high school. Also I found it amazing that I could teach kids sports, something that I love and get paid for it, which helped me get through my senior year. Now into my third year of working for Coach Derek Inc., I have become a member of the Board and I’m excited to be working alongside this bright group of individuals. Coming from a community full of minorities I’m excited to go back to that community and create bonds with teens so that they are motivated to go to college. I want to be able to give back what was given to me.
Since 1992 I’ve been a full-time fitness professional as a personal trainer, gym owner and fitness retreat leader. Fitness is such a great part of my life personally and professionally and I want to share that with others. LGTS allows me to participate in the lives of children who did not have the opportunities I had as a child.
